How Often Should My Oil Be Changed?

There are a lot of opinions on how often to change the oil in your vehicle.  Much of it depends on you and your vehicle-how old it is, how you use and drive your vehicle and the surrounding driving conditions.

It has been normal to change the oil every 3,000 miles.  With the advancement in lubricants, some engines can go 5,000 to 7,500 miles between changes. 

If you fall under any of the below conditions, it is recommended that you change your oil more often:

• Mostly used for short trips
• Extremely hot, cold or dusty conditions
• Repeatedly stop-and-go driving
• Carrying heavy loads or towing

If you do not put a lot of miles on your car, an oil change is recommended at least twice per year.
